About
Bimlow Cottage was built in the sweet village of Edith in the 1890s.
The cottage includes a quaint country kitchen and the fully refurbed bathroom complete with a clawfoot tub, elegant light fittings and handmade tiles. The wood-burning fireplace heats the rooms and soft lamplight glows at night. In daylight hours, an inviting garden view is on show from every window.
Edith is a very special place. Magical sunsets illuminate the green rolling hills that hug our tiny hamlet made up of a few streets. Bird song is the soundtrack, underpinned by the rush of rivulets and the occasional neigh from the horses over the road. We treasure the moods of the changing seasons, which are even more apparent at our high elevation of 1080 metres above sea level. From snowy winter days to the pretty reawakening of spring, our pristine picturesque surroundings are a painting waiting to be realised.
Love and respect for mother nature
Bimlow Cottage aims to always tread softly on the environment.
Where possible, we source our produce and products from local growers and makers - from the ceramic plates crafted by a potter in the neighbouring village to the sourdough bread that we bake for each guest, topped with tangy sweet pickles made up the road. We grow our own produce, rely on rain and our spring-fed bore water, and embrace simple, uncomplicated rural living.
The friendly interiors are shaped by a thoughtful curation of vintage, salvaged and pre-loved pieces collected over time. Local artists’ paintings sit alongside travel mementoes, old-world curios and handmade finds. It’s relaxed, interesting, comfortingly familiar, and the most environmentally friendly way to make a home. In fact, if Bimlow inspires you to inject more secondhand into your home, you can browse our little shop of vintage treasures, located by Bimlow’s front door.
If you appreciate storied interiors that are layered with meaning and good intentions, Bimlow is for you. It’s humble, honest and filled with heart.
Find your own rhythm
The cottage provides a cosy base for exploring the Central Tablelands' staggeringly beautiful landscapes and charming historical pockets. But we totally understand if you want to just take it slow and spend snug days in the cottage by the fire or reading under the grassy dappled shadows of Bimlow’s mature trees. Pull veggies from the garden, make tasty pizzas in the pizza oven that our handy neighbour built for us, and sip wine by the fire pit while gazing up at the starry expanse.
Rise gently from a restorative slumber, breathe in the calm, and marvel at the magical surroundings. You’ve left the city behind and the country pace is yours to enjoy.
